Must see places in France

Oh, there’s Paris. There’ll always be Paris – and who can go past it? The Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées, strolling by the Seine. Yes, it’s as good as its cracked up to be. But, yes, but, France is a huge country and whilst Paris is wonderful, there are some truly hidden gems if you head out of town.

If you love a red wine, then you’ll want to head to Bordeaux. Visit a Chateaux and taste the best on a wine tour lead by the vigneurs themselves. Prefer a white? Then champagne is for you. Verve is a favourite of ours, but you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Lesser known Lyon is a foodie haven and a wonderful place to get up close with France’s Roman past. It’s amphitheatre rivals what you’ll see in Rome – without the crowds or the price tag.

France has a well connected rail system. It’s surprisingly easy to get around, even if your French is (very) limited. The trains are fast and comfortable and an excellent way to enjoy the beautiful countryside.

If the coast is your thing, then Nice is unmissable. Pack your sunnies and beach towel and catch some sun. If you love the hills and lakes, Annecy is simply spectacular. At the base of the alps it offers spectacular mountain views and excellent access to the slopes.

No matter which region of France you visit, you can guarantee that the food will be incredible. Prepare to feast on artisanal cheese and traditional dishes prepared with time held secrets and a little love.
